Sally lobbies in D.C., meets with Rep. Dave Loebsack

- Feb. 26-29, I was one of two citizen representatives from Iowa State University who attended CARET (Council Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching) to lobby for land grant college funding in Washington D.C.
Citizen representatives heard about the federal budget, funding and the programs supported through the land grant colleges across the county. They meet with every Congressional representative on Capitol Hill and talked about the importance of federal funding for land grant colleges. At ISU, federal funding supports extension, research, outreach, 4-H, and many other programs.
The programs supported by Smith-Lever, the Hatch Act and the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) do so much for all Americans.

Sally and Roger Stutsman attend the ARC Chili Supper on March 2. The Arc of Southeast Iowa is an autonomous, not for profit agency, that serves more than 500 families in a 13-county service area in southeast Iowa. ARC provides services and programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
